Gamescom kicked off earlier this month releasing a bunch of new information regarding the highly anticipated game Fallout 4. IGN staff’s poll as to the most exciting new game of 2015 was won by Fallout 4, who took a landslide victory with 36 percent of the total votes beating out games such as Dark Souls III and Metal Gear Solid V. Here are some of the awesome new features you can expect in the newest game in the Fallout series.
No Level Cap
Games become a lot less interesting once you’ve maxed out your character. Fallout 4 will allow players to journey as far into the game as they please, tapping into an unlimited stat pool. There will be no level cap and you can continue to increase your character’s strengths even after the main storyline has been completed.
Nobody is going to argue against the fact that previous Fallout games had a funky shooting system that relied way too heavily on the VATS system. While VATS is still going to be a major part of combat, it is going to run more smoothly with the game. There is a nice transition between standard combat and switching to VATS in tight situations. Enemies are also more intelligent when reacting and will have a more natural response to your character’s attacks.
Explore the World
Fallout 4 is built a lot like Skyrim, as it has a lot to do outside of the main storyline. The game is being built so that your character will have endless hours of gameplay and activities even after you’ve completed the main part of the game. Boston’s wastelands are filled with side stories and adventures for your character to explore. With limitless stats, you will always have stuff to do after you’ve finished the 400 hours of storyline.
Advanced Perk System
Fallout fans don’t need to worry too much about the changes to the perk system, as Pipboy is still the main mascot behind the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats tree. The only change is that each time you place a point into a stat, you also get a point that you can put into the perks tree. There are over 200 various perks and skills that your character can unlock. Since the leveling system is limitless there isn’t a whole lot of pressure in missing out on certain skills as you can eventually pick them up, but it does make the early game dynamic for your character.
Beefing Up The Fights
Fallout 4 has released some major changes and additions to the fighting system, so now they’re adding a way for you to put them to the test. You’ll face ghouls, bandits, mutants, deadly vehicles, and sometimes all of these at once! Battles can become rather huge and players can even call in for backup to create an all in war. Battles are going to be a lot more intense and exciting then in previous games and can really scale up to be major battles across a wide landscape.
